FAQ

What will happen if I contact you regarding therapy?

You are welcome to contact me by telephone or email. I aim to respond to your message within 24 hours. It is often useful to have a short discussion about your current situation by telephone or email at a time which is convenient for you. This will provide an opportunity to ask questions and assess whether you or a family member would like to meet for an initial session.

What can I expect from my first session?

The intial session provides an opportunity for us to explore the issues which are troubling you or a member of your family. It is as much a chance for you to get to know me and ask questions as it is for me to assess the nature of issues presented. There is no obligation to commit to therapy after the intial session and you are welcome to take time to think about whether therapy is right for you at this time.

How many sessions am I likely to need?

It is often difficult to assess how many sessions will be needed as this will very much depend upon the circumstances and nature of your difficulties. An initial session will provide an opportunity to explore the issues which you bring to therapy. This will enable me to tailor the therapy to meet your needs and consider whether brief or longer term therapy is likely to be most effective.

Where are the sessions held?

I also offer sessions in St Margarets, TW1.

How long does a session last?

A typical session is fifty minutes in duration. An initial assessment session or work with families may require a longer session time.

How much do you charge for a session?

The typical session cost is in line with other psychologists in the Chelsea area but a lower fee is offered in Twickenham. A sliding scale is available and I do endeavour to offer lower cost spaces where possible. Extended family and EMDR sessions are charged at a higher rate according to additional time. I offer reduced rate supervision for counselling psychologists in training at a fee of £80 per session.
